Mothers don't need more work.
Mothers need support.

Hey, Mama. I've been there...
At times I wished I could just “do it all”. I felt like me magically having unlimited capacity would make everything easier. Yet I also deeply longed to be allowed to be human: to fail, to be flawed, to require help, to not be fully capable, to have limits, and to be seen with empathy and treated with grace.
I wanted to break cycles for my child. But I also just wanted to feel better in my body and mind for myself. I wanted my life to feel more fulfilling, more valued, more respected, more of what I was envisioning for myself...more of my own.
I loved my baby. Yet still found myself resenting motherhood for all the ways it had been unfair, limiting, had taken my autonomy, my passions, and my career, and had changed my relationships, life, and self as I knew them.
I felt trapped and exploited by other people's decisions to either support or not support me, and to whatever extent they choose, at any given moment. All while I felt I had no choice. Whether or not I was the primary caretaker, I felt as though I was the default. I craved equitability, space, and agency.
I didn't feel like my needs mattered. I tried so hard to be seen in what I was truly going through. Yet I often felt alone in my struggles. I worked on communication, boundaries, self-advocacy, and repair in my relationship, yet they never seemed to land in the ways I was intending. I needed my words and actions to have real constructive, collaborative impact.
I felt desperate for change. But I was also scared to take true accountability, in fear that doing so would come across as an admission of my wrong-doing or guilt—when I knew I was highly impacted by my external situation.
I knew the state of my nervous system state affected my child. But at the same time I couldn't help but be in survival mode, and validly so. I wanted our intertwined systems to be synced in a state of resilience, peace, and capacity. But I didn't see how I could do that given my current experience.
I secretly longed to be seen as the badass, beautiful, strong, incredible version of myself that I had become in becoming a mother, with the most sacred, honorable role of sustaining and raising life. I had a deep need to be treated with appreciation, respect, and reverence, so that I may be supported, cared for, and shown empathy toward as The Mother—for myself and for my child.

What Is IFS Coaching?
Internal Family Systems is a therapeutic modal that facilitates changes in mindset, nervous system regulation, felt-sense of experiences, habits, behavior, as well as external factors (i.e. relationship dynamics)—all from a loving and honest approach that quite literally brings you home to yourself.
IFS allows you to see all of your coping mechanisms, thoughts, emotions, reactions, as parts of you enlisted with distinct strategies to protect you (i.e. people-pleasing, disassociating, etc.).
IFS gives you the ability to work with yourself, your situation, and the people around you, in ways you never could before—to experience the healing, release, and rewiring you’ve longed for.

What to expect from our sessions:
My approach is both highly empathetic and openly honest. I help you hold both these perspectives, even when they seem to conflict, to support your body and mind in feeling a new level of safety, as well as empowering you to take clear, aligned action when needed.
Our sessions provide a space for your nervous system to be attuned to, often in ways you may have never experienced before. This facilitates the process of "filling your cup", nourishing you with the foundational energy you need, not just to mother with more peace and stability, but to feel more cohesive, well, and boundaried for yourself.
I facilitate "parts work" (as mentioned in "What is IFS Coaching") in ways that enable you to build a truly organic relationship with the parts of you that keep you stuck in unwanted patterns and withheld from desired change. During this process we are both able to "see", feel, and understand these parts of you and foster connection with them. The relationships we build are through truly unscripted, wholly authentic interactions.
My authentic relational approach allows these parts of you to feel truly held and safe in the specific ways they've been longing for. So that they may finally heal, transform, and empower you, bringing you into whole-body love, acceptance, and inter- and intra-personal harmony, rather than hold you back and subconsciously pull you into unwanted experiences.
When working with mothers, I do not typically assign outside "homework" unless you have the desire and capacity for it (I'm happy to provide books, resources, prompts, exercises, etc. when they fit your needs and capacity). Rather, we focus on real world application through opportunities that happen every day, that do not require explicitly carved out time to commit to. You will receive guidance in exactly how to integrate and embody the work we do within sessions into your life in ways that are completely unique to you.
Generally, to get the most out of our work, we would meet every other week for an hour session. However, everyone has different needs, schedules, budgets, etc. and we are able to shift the frequency of sessions depending on what is needed. Every session provides you with more understanding, care, and confidence to support you in your journey. Our focus is on adapting over optimizing.

I utilize a blend of modalities from my unique backgrounds: a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, experiences as a mental health agent for families and as a certified spiritual practitioner, as well as a hands-on focus in IFS.
I have been supporting clients in my private coaching practice for 10 years.

Hi, I'm Alex
a.k.a
Rage Mama!
Becoming a mother radically changed how I work with mothers in my practice.

The invisible labor, mental load, good girl wounds, and martyrdom messaging are a few of the factors that make self-help, adopting new coping skills, and “doing the work” a convoluted journey for mothers. Often perpetuating cycles of blame, shame, and exploitation, rather than solving them.
IFS Coaching is where you meet yourself with empowerment, honesty, and love.
me + my family :)
